Hi, I'm Natashja although some of you know me as Simone! I am so glad that you took the time to visit my website. I am a London based 23-year-old prolapse warrior. I first noticed my symptoms at 18 and since then I have been diagnosed with Uterine prolapse Grade 3. Although prolapse is very common for women after childbirth, I have not yet had kids.
When I was initially diagnosed with prolapse I felt extremely alone. I was filled with fear, anxiety and confusion and felt even my friends did not understand what I was going through. So I decided to create this platform in order to connect with other women living with prolapse, help others feel less alone and raise awareness of this condition.
The cause of my prolapse is still not fully known which has been one of the hardest things to accept. It is thought to likely be caused by a combination of factors including chronic constipation as a child and holding my breath during exercise and when I am anxious.
As well as having Grade 3 Uterine Prolapse I also have lichen sclerosus (LS), a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most often affects genital and perianal areas and I was also recently diagnosed with EoE which is a chronic disease of the oesophagus. I also openly share my experience with these conditions on my Instagram platform and my blog.
If you would like to read more about how I discovered my prolapse then feel free to check out my Discovering My Prolapse blog, where I go into more detail!
Please note that Instagram is my main platform & where I post most often! So if you would like more frequent updates about my prolapse journey then please follow me on Instagram. You can also contact me on Instagram if you need any advice or even just want a chat!
More about my mission...
I hope that my platform can help educate people about what it is like to live with prolapse and help women with prolapse feel less alone. I will openly talk about my experience & journey with uterine prolapse as I hope this will help raise awareness of prolapse and drive positive change for those living with this condition. I also want to debunk the misconception that prolapse only affects older women as I am a living example that this isn't the case.
I also hope to destigmatise talking about genitalia as it has become almost a taboo topic. This is one of the main reasons I did not go to the doctor sooner as I felt embarrassed to talk about my genitals and also due to the lack of education I received about my anatomy or pelvic floor dysfunctions. I know for a fact that if I had been better educated about my body from a young age I would have gone to the doctor much sooner.
I NEVER want someone to feel isolated and alone when they receive a prolapse diagnosis as there is an army of women out there ready to support you. If you are reading this and have prolapse please know you are NOT alone.
